I really hated being made to feel that way about them. I wish I could talk about the actresses, but so many of them spent so much time taking their clothes off that it was frankly hard to respect any of them as anything but sex objects. He looks perpetually stoned or something, like a male Kristen Stewart. On the other hand, the guy who played the romeo and juliet part, the James character or whatever, something's off about him. Went from a very convincing oafish loser to a very convincing ship's officer in less than a year. Completely different presence, the guy's a solid actor. I'd only ever seen him in The Bridge (which I loved), and I had to look him up to finally place him. The cast did a great job, but I was especially impressed by the captain, played by Brian Van Holt. And the direction made it all work I loved the shots where the camera panned between the areas of the ship to highlight the social disparities and such. Like The Island meets Snowpiercer meets "Pan-Am". The production design or whatever was amazing. I really liked how clever and daring the show often got, and it's frustratingly hard to talk about without intense spoilers, which is good. They planned and paced the twists and reveals very well. I thought most of the sex was stuff was gratuitous and juvenile, and I have no idea who it's supposed to appeal to.īut outside of that soap opera shit I really liked the show.
